The 100 Club draw for June takes place after today’s Sung Eucharist. July subscriptions may be given to Aileen Smith or Glenna Swetnam.

In today’s Gospel Jesus meets hostility and adulation in two different villages. He does not let either hold him up. The biggest obstacle to his Gospel is neither overt enmity or exaggerated praise, but half-hearted dedication and lukewarm faithfulness. Nothing much grows in the uncommitted middle ground. So where does that leave us?

The July / August edition of Good News, the Parish Magazine, is out today, and is available from the table at the back of Church. Please take a copy for yourself and for anyone else.

Services this Week: all times are shown on the notices at the back of Church and on the doors. We celebrate the Eucharist on Monday (Irenæus, Bishop & Teacher, c200) at 10:00 & 14:00 (Day Centre); on Tuesday (ST PETER & ST PAUL, Apostles) at 10:00 & 18:30 (note time); on Wednesday at 10:00; on Friday at 10:00; and on Saturday (ST THOMAS, Apostle) at 09:30, followed by cleaning and other jobs. Friday is a Day of Abstinence. Confessions after Saturday Evensong or by arrangement.

As you can see, we have not one, but two Red Letter Days this week: St Peter & St Paul on Tuesday and St Thomas on Saturday. The Church invites all her children to join in celebrating the Eucharist on these days of rejoicing. All three Apostles played a crucial part in passing on the Gospel to us. For times: see above. Well done, all who shared in celebrating St John the Baptist on Thursday.

The Deanery Synod meets on Tuesday at 19:30 at St Francis, Meir Heath. Eucharistic Ministers are invited to attend to renew their licences. Please tell me if this is not possible.

If anyone has yet to hand in their reply slip to Christ Church Primary School’s invitation to Afternoon Tea in School at 14:00 this Friday, could they please let me know as soon as possible? They need to know how many they are catering for, and I said we would tell them. There are spare letters if anyone needs one.

Tickets (£2.50) are available for George & Barbara Key’s Strawberry Tea at 62, Bailey Road, on Wednesday, July 14th, from 15:00 to 18:30 in aid of the Donna Louise Trust and Christ Church.
